There's nothing quite like a real cedar deck. This Arlington project replaced a tired old deck with a large wraparound in Western Red Cedar, with a cedar-framed black-wire railing and a covered porch section — the warm, natural look a lot of Northwest homeowners still want, done to a craftsman standard.
Cedar rewards good work and punishes shortcuts, so the details matter: tight, even board spacing, clean picture-frame borders, and a structure built properly underneath to carry it for decades in our wet climate. We tore out the original, rebuilt from the frame up, and finished it the way cedar deserves.

We took the old deck down and rebuilt the structure properly — footings, posts, and framing sized for our wet climate. This is where a lasting deck is really made, long before the decking goes down.
Western Red Cedar laid with tight, even spacing and clean lines, including a picture-frame border — a true Northwest classic, finished the way it should be.
A cedar-framed black-wire railing keeps the deck feeling open to the yard instead of boxed in — sturdy, clean, and built to last alongside the cedar.
The finished deck wraps the house and opens to the yard, solid and detailed to a standard that makes it feel built, not assembled.
