Fire & Smoke Damage Restoration

After a fire, the damage keeps moving — smoke, soot, and odor spread while the home sits exposed. SCR secures the property, removes what the fire left behind, and rebuilds it whole across Snohomish, King & Skagit Counties. One crew, start to finish.

Why fire damage spreads

The fire stops — the damage doesn't

The flames are only part of a fire loss. Smoke and soot push through the entire house and settle into surfaces, ductwork, insulation, and framing. Odor embeds deep into materials. And the water used to put the fire out saturates the structure, adding a drying problem on top of everything else.

Left alone, all of that keeps causing damage — soot etches and corrodes, odor sets in permanently, moisture invites mold. Securing the home quickly and starting proper remediation is what keeps a fire from taking more than it already has.

Our process

From secured to whole again — one crew

01

Board-up & secure

After the fire is out, the home is exposed and unsafe. We board up openings, tarp the roof, and secure the property against weather, intrusion, and further loss.

02

Smoke, soot & odor removal

Smoke and soot travel far beyond the burn and settle into surfaces, ductwork, and materials. We clean, treat, and deodorize so the home doesn’t carry the fire with it.

03

Document & file the claim

Fire claims are large and detailed. We photograph and inventory the loss and write a thorough estimate so the full scope — structure and finishes — is captured.

04

Full reconstruction

We rebuild framing, finishes, and the details that make it home again — with the craftsmanship SCR is known for, so the repaired home doesn’t look repaired.

How it happens

Common fire & smoke scenarios

Whatever started it, the restoration challenge is similar: contain the spread, remove the smoke and soot, and rebuild properly. The sources we see most:

Kitchen & cooking fires

The most common household fire — fast-moving and often leaving heavy smoke and soot well beyond the kitchen itself.

Electrical fires

Older wiring, overloaded circuits, and failing panels start fires inside walls, where damage spreads before it’s seen.

Chimney & heating fires

Woodstoves and chimneys work hard through a Northwest winter; creosote buildup and heating faults are a seasonal risk.

Smoke & soot spread

Even a contained fire pushes smoke and soot through the whole house and into HVAC, requiring far more than surface cleaning.

Lingering odor

Smoke odor embeds in framing, drywall, and materials. Without proper treatment it comes back — deodorizing is its own step.

Firefighting water damage

Putting the fire out saturates the structure. Fire restoration almost always includes water extraction and drying too.

Frequently asked questions

Is my home safe to enter after a fire?

Often not right away — structural integrity, air quality, and electrical hazards are real concerns. Wait for the fire department’s clearance, then let us secure and assess the property before anyone spends time inside.

Can smoke damage really be removed?

Yes, but it takes more than cleaning surfaces. Smoke and soot penetrate materials, ductwork, and framing, and odor embeds deep. Proper restoration cleans, treats, and deodorizes at the source rather than masking it.

Does insurance cover fire damage?

Fire damage is one of the most consistently covered losses. The claims are large and detailed, which is exactly why thorough documentation matters — we inventory and document the full loss and work directly with your adjuster.

Do you handle the whole rebuild after a fire?

Yes. From emergency board-up through smoke and odor remediation to full reconstruction, it’s one crew and one point of contact — so the home comes back whole, not stitched together.

Do you focus on the structure or my belongings too?

Our work is restoring the structure and finishes of your home — the rebuild that makes it whole again. For personal belongings and contents affected by smoke, we can refer you to specialists who handle that side.
